Travelling to Padre Burgos Southern Leyte from Cebu











There are a variety of ferries operating to several destinations in Leyte and Southern Leyte from Cebu City, Cebu and from Ubay, Bohol.

Use the dive shop private car or van, or public transport, to get to Maasin and then Padre Burgos.





Travelling from Cebu City to Ormoc

Supercat "fastcraft" ferry runs daily services from Cebu City Pier4 to Ormoc, Leyte. Please check with the ferry line before travel, because the published schedules may change. Passage time is about 2.5-hours. Expect to pay Ps625.

From Ormoc to your favourite dive shop - by resort van or private hire-car
Sogod Bay area dive shops are able to arrange for a private driver and car or van to meet you and your party upon arrival at the relevant pier and drive you directly to your preferred dive shop. Make your arrangements during your resort booking. For first-time visitors, and for those preferring fast and personalised service, we recommend this option. The trip duration is about 3-hours. The cost is Ps3,500-4,500.

From Ormoc to Maasin - by public van (v-hire)
Public passenger van service runs between Ormoc and Maasin, passing through Baybay, Leyte. The 14-passenger vans leave from Ormoc Central Terminal for Maasin every 30 minutes, or when full. The Ormoc Central Terminal is conveniently located directly across from the Ormoc Ferry Terminal. Vans heading to Maasin will be waiting at the right-hand side of the terminal. The trip duration is about 3.25-hours. Expect to pay Ps180 per seat.

From Ormoc to Maasin - by public bus
Public passenger bus service runs between Ormoc and Maasin. The Ormoc Central Terminal is conveniently located directly across from the Ormoc Ferry Terminal. Buses heading to Maasin will be waiting at the right-hand side of the terminal. The trip duration is about 6-hours. Expect to pay Ps150 per seat. Look for a bus going to Sogod town and you will not need to disembark in Maasin.

Travelling from Cebu City to Hilongos, Leyte
The Roble Ferry Line runs daily services from Cebu City Pier3 to Hilongos, Leyte. Please check with the ferry line before travel, because the published schedules may change. Passage time is between 5-7-hours, depending on the day and ship. Expect to pay Ps700.

From Hilongos - by resort van or private hire-car

The cost is Ps1,600-1,800.

From Hilongos to Maasin - by public van (v-hire)
Public passenger van service runs between Hilongos and Maasin, passing through Bato. Buses and vans heading to Maasin will be waiting at the Hilongos Pier. The 14-passenger vans leave for Maasin once the ferry passengers have all embarked. The van will drop you at your resort if it is on the National Highway. The trip duration to Maasin is about 1.5-hours. Expect to pay Ps100 per seat.

From Hilongos to Maasin - by public bus
Public passenger bus service runs between Hilongos and Maasin, passing through Bato. Buses and vans heading to Maasin will be waiting at the Hilongos Pier. The bus will leave for Maasin once the ferry passengers have all disembarked. The trip duration to Maasin is about 2-hours. Expect to pay Ps60 per seat. Look for a bus going to Sogod town and you will not need to disembark in Maasin.

Travelling from Cebu City to Maasin, S Leyte


The Cokaliong ferry leaves from Cebu Pier1 Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. Please check with the ferry line before travel, because the published schedules may change. Passage time is about 7-hours. Expect to pay Ps700.

From Maasin to Padre Burgos - the final leg of your travel

If you do not avail of the dive shop's private driver and car or van, you will find that all of the public transportation routes described above will take you first to Maasin. You need to then to travel to Padre Burgos and beyond.

Padre Burgos, where most of the dive shops are located, is about 18kms from Maasin City, Southern Leyte. Travel time from Maasin to Padre Burgos is about 40-50 minutes by public multi-cab, Jeepney or bus. Look for those heading to Malitbog, which pass through Padre Burgos and right by most dive shops. Expect to pay Ps40. Multi-vans ending their trip in Padre Burgos, will normally agree to take you beyond Padre Burgos to your favourite dive shop, for a small extra fee. Expect to pay up to Ps40 in total.
